How Long Do Bengal Cats Sleep Daily?

Bengal cats are quite an active breed of domestic cats. One which thrives on exploring around the house and playing with you or its toys.

Given the overall high energy levels of Bengal cats, as well as their fondness for a larger number of activities during the day.

You may wonder about the sleeping habits of these felines.

How long do Bengal cats sleep daily? There are several interesting facts about the sleeping habits of these cats.

1. Bengal kittens may need different sleeping arrangements

You should have in mind that Bengal kittens, when first brought home, may need a different approach than adult cats, when it comes to sleeping arrangements.

Bengal kittens may sleep up to 18 hours a day.

It is vital to let them sleep as much as they need.

This especially applies to children; they should be encouraged to play with the kitten during play time, and refrain from waking the kitten up for this purpose.

It is important to note that it is not advisable to let the Bengal kitten sleep in your bed at first, as accidents are always likely to happen.

Newly brought kittens may not be aware where the litter box is in their new home, so they might cause some unfortunate accidents on the bed.

A better option than keeping the kitten in your bed, is to keep it in the bathroom for a few days.

It would also help to keep it with the carrier it is already familiar with, and a warm blanket, as a second option.

In fact, Bengal kittens need time to adjust to their new surroundings, they may feel the most comfortable sleeping in the carrier they were brought to their new home.

When it comes to adult Bengal cats, the number of hours they sleep daily usually depends on the amount of energy they burn during the hours they spend awake.

2. Different Bengal cats may have different bed preferences

As is the case with other cats, individual Bengal cats are most likely to have diverse preferences when it comes to their favorite sleeping place.

If you have bought an expensive, comfortable, and in all ways, ideal bed for your Bengal cat pet, this does not guarantee they will choose it as a bed.

On the other hand, some Bengal cats may do exactly that, and start sleeping in their costly bed as soon as it is bought.

Still, it is always more advisable to choose a less expensive option first, just in case.

Also, some Bengal cats may appreciate a cardboard box the most, as well as a cozy, warm blanket placed inside it.

After the cat has gotten used to a cardboard box and blanket, it may be more willing to switch to an actual cat bed later, but this is also not always the case.

Some Bengal cats may even opt for the top of a kitchen cabinet, or any other odd similar high spot, for a sleeping place.

In any case, you should note that no Bengal cat is completely alike when it comes to bed preferences.

3. Bengal cats may prefer sleeping during the day

Bengal cats, similar to other domestic cats, may prefer to sleep during the day and be active during the night.

Although this cat practice may not seem suitable for you, it actually has a rather endearing explanation.

Bengal cats which are usually away from their family during the day, will sleep more during the time they are alone, in order to have more energy to socialize with their family members once they arrive back home.

Still, this practice is rarely ideal, as Bengal cats want to remain active long after you have grown tired, and even long after you have fallen asleep.

In order to discourage your Bengal cat from staying up long into the night, you can make it a habit to play with the cat before work, or more during the day.

A suitable practice is to play with the cat extensively before it is time for bed, and to occupy it with many interactive toys during this time.

Bengals are very active pets; they have high energy levels, so the number of hours they spend sleeping daily will usually depend on the number of activities they indulge in.

They may prefer staying up during the day, or sleeping in unusual places, but, in time, they can get accustomed to other, more suitable arrangements.
